Pumping removes the water that shows, and structural drying removes the water that does not. Wood, drywall and subfloors hold moisture long after the surface looks dry, so the crew measures instead of guessing.
How the goal is set
The crew takes readings in an unaffected room of the same house and records them as the dry reference. Wet materials must reach that number, and the equipment stays until they do. Airflow, temperature and humidity are logged beside the material readings so the adjuster can see why the job needed each day. Each visit ends with updated readings and a short note on which machines moved and why, so the equipment days match the measured progress.
- Class 1 and 2 jobs use air movers and one or two dehumidifiers.
- Larger jobs add LGR units and containment.
- Class 4 jobs with hardwood or masonry may need desiccant drying.
- Equipment moves toward the wettest framing each visit.
